“Bringing together people with an interest in history”

The Launceston Historical Society hosts guest speakers on topics of local historical interest on the third Sunday of the month from February to November (except March) at the Meeting Room, QVMAG Museum at Inveresk, at 2.00pm.

The John West Memorial Lecture is held on the third Friday in March.

Excursions to areas of interest are held during the year.

An annual History Prize for primary school students is held to foster an interest in history amongst young people. An annual prize also is awarded to a first year history student at the University of Tasmania studying at Launceston.

The Society does not have any archival records and does not undertake family or local history research.
