The latest LHS Newsletter is now ready to read. Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the upcoming Sunday lectures due to the coronavirus. This Newletter contains a couple of articles from the newspapers in 1919 when the Influenza epidemic hit Tasmania. We did recover from that catastrophe, as we will from this one too. See you again when times are better.
The Launceston Historical Society Primary History Prize for 2020 is now open until 28 August 2020. For more details see the entry forms and guidelines on our web page:
Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic we have reluctantly cancelled the talk scheduled for Sunday 19 April by John Dent and Darren Watton on the “Kings Meadows Road Station”. We hope to be able to offer this in April 2021.
The Sunday 17 May talk by Derek Binns on “John Francis: Royal assassin, Launceston builder” has also been postponed.
The Launceston Historical Society is starting the new year with the AGM on 16 February 2020. The annual subscriptions are now due, from 31 December 2019.
